Settings control platform behaviour
Settings are organisation-level controls and preferences. They should be changed deliberately because configuration can affect how users work across the application.
Rule of thumb: if a setting changes a workflow or calculation, understand the downstream effect before changing it in production.
What belongs in settings?
Use settings for configuration that should apply consistently across the organisation rather than for individual campaign decisions. Campaign-specific information belongs in the campaign, advertisement, media plan or commercial record.
Before changing a setting
- Identify which team or workflow depends on it.
- Understand whether the setting affects existing records or only new records.
- Make the smallest required change.
- Test the relevant workflow after the change.
- Record or communicate important configuration changes when they affect operational teams.
If a workflow suddenly behaves differently
Check whether a recent configuration change could have altered the behaviour before changing application records manually. This keeps the root cause visible and prevents the same issue from returning.
